A heavy power tool fell on my shin 10 days ago. I’m trying to tough it out but still swollen and painful.

A 300 pound power tool fell down on my shin 10 days ago and I’m trying to avoid going to the Dr ($$$). I can walk on it but it’s still very swollen and painful. If I even bump it the pain is excrutiating. It has bruising but looks OK. If it was truly broken would I still be able to walk on it? If it’s just a “hairline” crack (?) and I put up with the pain, will it still heal OK? I don’t mind some crookedness if it will heal OK. I remember as a child, one of my best friend’s Dad let a leg break go and eventually lost it to gangrene. I have no insurance and would really prefer to avoid an expensive Dr. visit if possible. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I know that you might not want to spend on an expensive doctor, but my advice is GO! i know this may not help, but you really have to get it checked.. a 300 pound tool is no joke.. pls pls pls go.. its for ur own good. get well soon! =)

yes you could still walk on it, my boss fractured her foot & could still walk on it before she went to the Dr.
I know how you’d hate to spend the $$$$, but it’s better that you do, better to be safe then sorry
    take care

It is very possible that you have a hairline fracture in your leg. And yes, it can heal on it own. BUT you’re going to have to take it easy. Putting too much weight on it or a fall or another mishap could break it totally and make your problem so much worse by ignoring the present problem. I would say stay OFF your leg as much as possible keep an ice pack on it and baby it until the swelling goes down as well as the pain. BUT I STRONGLY suggest you SEE A DOCTOR. Good Luck with it either way, I wish you the best.
