Best Power Tool to get as a gift?

jaxs84 asked:

So I have to buy my boyfriend a birthday gift and I was thinking of starting him off on a good power tool. He lives in an apartment right now so space is limited and doesn’t really do to much but I don’t want to get him a crappy one or one that has to much power that he will never have to use. Any suggestions?

Cordless drill with 1/2″ chuck and minimum 14.4 volts. If he’s not a pro and will get only occasional use out of it I would go with a Ryobi.

Dremel tool. You can use those for anything. Especially good for small projects in limited space.

I’ll have to agree with the cordless drill. THE most useful tool everyone should have in their home. You can hang pictures, build the boxed furniture, repair all sorts of stuff and you can take it anywhere. It is the most borrowed tool I own!
Porter Cable make good stuff, as does Bosch and DeWalt. Personally, I’d stay away from Ryobi.
