It’s possible. All batteries die eventually.

depends on how old the battery is. even though it’s rechargeable, they can still die.

Yes, they do give up eventually; you say “batteries”, though, do you mean several are not charging? In that case, I’d suspect the charger . . .

Most have NiCad batteries and they can only be charged a few hundred times. That’s why they sell spares - costing a fortune. I cut mine open and wired up metal-hydrides for a fraction of the cost.

if you leave them on charge longer than the manual says it shortens their life span.

Yes, they can and do die. But they can be replaced, either at a tool repair such as Tools R Us, of you can do it yourself. When you do though, don’t throw the old ones in the trash, give them to the place you get the new ones from,if possible.

IF two years or more yes, depending on use, they die quicker when not used,so if out of use for long time, charge and discharge on occassion, hope this helps

make sure you let the battery die completely each time before rechasrging do this 3 times as the batteries have a memory and if you re-charge them when half dead they will never again charge up all the way only half way full ynless you compl;etely discharge then complely re-charge 3 times

I have three 18v Black & Decker Firestorm drills, and 6 batteries, one by one the batteries started petering out within a time span of about two months. Only one battery would charge, and at that would only last a few minutes. At $30-$40 each I was getting pretty ticked off!
Someone told me to check the chargers… 2 are; plug into the base of the drill while the battery is installed type and the other is a cradle type.
I’ll be darned if the wasn’t cradle was dead, as was one of the plug-ins! The last plug in was only working sporadically, giving me the false sense that the batteries had died when it was really the chargers fault.

So, I went and talked to some contractors, who convinced me that B&D recharger’s where typically crap, tending to burn out, and to go with a higher quality type, DeWalt or Makita.
I bought a DeWalt and haven’t had problems since.

Yes, batteries do die for good, but before you go out and drop a good chunk of cash on new batteries, check out all of the potential problems first.
