Do the power tool manufacturer, Makita, make tools under any other brand name? If so, which one?

Dave G asked:

I think Skil power tools are made by Bosch? Less expensive versions but still good quality tools… Was hoping to find out if Makita do the same kind of thing?

makita I dont think they make any other brand.I use makita and have been told that if you buy them from the US,you will get them cheaper than UK even if you pay a load for postage and packing.

Nope, they are independent. They make the best screwgun on the market if you are hanging commercial drywall.

Oh boy;oh boy;oh boy LOLOL. I love this kind of Q.

I’ve answered it in a similar fashion often; and mean no offense to you or any others who answer.

YES…… There are TOOL BRANDS who are; or have PARENT companies. Obviously some are BRAND specific.

Your question however states “manufacturer.” In that regard I’ll give you an example I used recently. Line up 2 dozen TV’s, all different in the brand name. I promise you; the components were very likely NOT manufactured; by that BRAND name distributor.

Very likely the same can be said for Cell Phones; etc. I suspect if you look closely; you’ll probably see the word China/Taiwan/Japan; etc.

Components for many BRAND products are outsourced; even assembled by others than the BRAND name. That may not strictly be the case always; but it is a common fact; often.

I’ll give you a final example. Sears/J.C. Penny/ and at one time Montgomery Ward; sold a mens Suit. It was an OK suit at a decent price. The suit was fabricated NOT by any one of those 3 companies; but was labeled after fabrication; directed toward the 3 different STORE BRAND names.

Choosing a TOOL, is probably as personal as choosing a political party; or religious preference; or even having a favorite color. Obviously some allow better service; or have different features; certainly some are brightly colored.

I have and do; use them all; and often very specifically. MY goal is dependability certainly; but beyond that a price point does matter; as does a local service center.

Yes they do it’s called Maktec, suitable for heavy DIY/ light trade, tends to be all the slightly old technolgy in a red case

I do not think that Makita make any other product by the name of any other Brand even they use a technology called AVT means anti vibration technology .May be you may be confused by this and namend AVT as Brand .

Give the pts to I Got Wood. Yes Maktec is another brand of the Makita line. However, they are not available in the US.
And yes Bosch and Skil are both owned by the same company, and TTI is the company that owns Milwaukee, Ridgid and Ryobi, and Black and Decker owns B&D and DeWalt.
The thing about the brands of each, usually the technologies of each brand cannot be shared due to the patents each division may own. By sharing the patented technology, it would allow competitors to copy it.
