Is there any truth to Home Depot / Lowes power tools being cheaply made equivilants of the real thing?

I’ve heard that if you take apart a drill (DeWalt, Makita) from one of the big box retailers and compare it to the exact same drill from the manufacturer, you will be surprised with the quality differance. Is there any truth to this or is it all hogwash?

      The retail giants where do you and two chargers would say got my makita from had my milwaukee for it isnt the time hanging gates etc guess that would be testimonial.
